Buddy A. Dog

Hi everyone, I’m Buddy Alexander Dog

I spent my early years with my happy family; my dad, mom, and two brothers. Then, one sunny day in early fall, my mother was hit by a car and died after three painful days at the vet. That event quickly changed me from a happy puppy to a solemn adolescent who never quite fit in with the other puppies. While my chums in preschool spent recess playing on the slides and learned their alphabets, I was drinking tea with our teacher and discussing the books i read over the weekend…Stoner, The Bell Jar.

When I was about 18 in dog years, I realized I was infatuated with a big, strong, German Shepherd in my obedience class, and I realized that’s what made me different: I liked boy dogs. Edgar (the Shepherd) taught me amazing things and helped me accept myself. Then he was bitten by a raccoon when we were walking through the park, and was put down because of rabies.

I thought I would spend the rest of my sad doggy life alone, and then, one crazy day, I met Buttons. Our friendship is the most unlikely one ever, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Some days I love the guy, some days I rue the day we met, but I know we will be in each other’s lives until one of us dies. (Probably me. Early.)

Enjoy reading what is, honestly, just the tip of the iceberg of our crazy stories.
